Shortly after Ksamil, I take a small, motorized ferry that is pulled across a narrow arm of the sea. I meet Lina, a cyclist from Germany who is traveling from Ljubljana to Athens. Interestingly, she started her adventure exactly one day before me.

Together, we cross the border into Greece.

She decides to camp at the same wild campsite as I do, as she doesn’t like to camp alone.

Soon, we pass through fields of mandarin trees, their branches heavy with fruit.

It reminds me of the "Paradise" near Merano (see blog post "Paradise"), except this time it’s mandarins instead of apples. The harvest season is in full swing here as well.

In the evening, just after Igoumenitsa, we encounter a climb. We ride at our own pace, though she can’t quite keep up with me. I figure she might catch up if I fly the drone on the other side of the hill.

The sunset is incredible - one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

The sun sinks into the sea, painting the clouds above me in shades of red, orange, and purple.

The sea mirrors the colors.

After this breathtaking display, I wait for a while, but Lina doesn’t arrive. It seems she must have set up her tent somewhere else. I hope she doesn’t think I purposely sped off to avoid camping near her. I’ve waited long enough, and it’s already quite dark.

I’m sure I’ll see her again and explain myself.

Feeling a bit guilty, I walk down to the sea. Earlier, I had spotted a perfect camping spot with the drone. And sure enough, right by the sea, I find an ideal place. I’m excited for tomorrow when I’ll be able to embrace two of my dearest people.
